Chuck Spann
Chairman

Chuck Spann serves as chairman of the Winfield City Board of Education. Chuck and his wife Jill, have two children—Julie, 22 and Caitlyn, 16. Chuck is a 1978 graduate of Winfield City High School. He holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Alabama. Chuck has served on the Board of Education since 1994. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

Tracy Estes

Tracy Estes serves as vice-chairman of the Winfield City Board of Education. He and his wife, Tawanna, have two children--Kaleb, 19 and MaKayla, 16. He is currently serving as District 7 Director for the Alabama Association of School Boards working with 12 boards from across nine counties. He was named All-State school board member in 2000. Tracy is a 1985 Winfield City High School graduate and earned his bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Alabama in 1989. He serves as a deacon at Winfield First Baptist Church and is news editor of the Journal Record newspaper.

Michael and his wife, Stacey have three children - Elizabeth, 15, Jacob, 12 and Katherine, 8. Michael is a 1989 graduate of WCHS and received his business degree from the University of Alabama in 1993. He is the owner of Main Street Framing and Photography in Winfield.


Dickinson

Carol Dickinson

Carol Dickinson was appointed to the Winfield City Board of Education in June 2010. Both Carol and her husband Jim are graduates of Winfield City High School. She earned a BS degree in Education from the University of Alabama, a Masters and AA degree in Education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a Masters in School Counseling from the University of North Alabama. Carol served as a classroom teacher, administrative assistant, resource teacher, GED and adjunct teacher at Bevill State Community College, system test coordinator, and guidance counselor. She retired in 2005 after working 30 years in education. Carol’s children, Amanda and Jon, and Jim’s children, Stacia and Phillip, are Winfield City High School graduates. Carol is a member of Winfield First United Methodist Church where she serves as organist/pianist.

Brenda Taylor is proud to be a member of the Winfield City Board of Education and considers the position to be of the highest honor. She is a graduate of the Winfield City School and is retired as a teacher for forty-two years at the Winfield City School. She has a BS, Masters, AA, in education from the University of North Alabama and the University of Alabama. She is certified as a teacher in the “No Child Left Behind” program grades K-12 reading, science, math, English, and social studies. Brenda also has a certification in Adult Education from Auburn University and has taught Adult Education for Bevill Community College for many years. She is also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s organization, WEA, AEA, and NEA. She has served numerous times as a committee member for the Southern Association School Accreditation Program in certifying schools throughout Alabama. Also, she has served as a member of the UNA Governing Board for Regional In-Service centers for many years. As a science teacher, Brenda has enjoyed attending educational seminars every summer during her teaching career. NASA Space Camp in Huntsville and Marine Biology study in the Gulf of Mexico for the University of Alabama, Out-Door-Education program for TVA in Kentucky and forestry work shop for Auburn University to mention a few. Other accomplishments include past president of the Winfield City School Education Association three times, dance line coach for the Middle School, organized the “Pep club” was the sponsor for the “First Priority” student prayer group meeting before class. She also enjoyed organizing talent shows for the middle school. She and her husband Jim have two children, Dr. Greg Taylor and Leah Taylor Pennington. They have two grandchildren, John Taylor Pennington and William Cooper Pennington. Brenda takes great pride in knowing that she has taught approximately four thousand of Winfield’s finest citizens through the years.
