Parents, our Winfield Middle School students will begin taking their Stanford Achievement Test and Alabama Reading and Math Test next week.  Our teachers will be conducting final testing reviews this week with our students in preparation for testing.

During the two weeks of testing, it is crucial that your child be ready to do his/her best on these testing assessments.  Here are a few things that can be done at home to ensure your child’s testing experience is a positive one:

*Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night.

*Provide your child with a nutritional breakfast each morning.  You

might want to include orange juice with breakfast as studies seem to

indicate that o.j. tends to help the child be more alert during testing.

*Try to keep stress to a minimum.  Speak positively with your child

                                      about testing.

*See that your child attends school daily during testing if at all

possible.  Testing will begin promptly each day so it is imperative

that your child arrives at school on time.  No child will be allowed to

enter the classroom once testing has begun until it is over for the day.

*Make dental appointments, etc.  after school hours.

Hopefully, these simple suggestions will be helpful to you and your child.

In an effort to reward our middle school students for exemplary punctuality and attendance during testing days, we will be sponsoring a trip to the Pastime Theatre again this year for a movie presentation.  WMS students must be in the classroom before 7:45 and present every day of testing in order to participate in the movie trip to Pastime. Therefore, we suggest that students arrive at school no later that 7:35 so that they have the opportunity and time to go to their lockers, the restroom, athletic room, etc. before entering the classroom prior to 7:45.  We will be following these guidelines strictly.  Last year, our students did a wonderful job being punctual and in attendance during testing.  They also had a great time visiting the Pastime Theatre with their classmates. So we are very pleased to be able to offer this reward opportunity to our students again this year.

Parents, we sincerely appreciate your support and all that you do to provide your child with a quality education.  Our WMS testing schedule is on the following page for your review.  We hope you find this information useful.
